Hun debuterte i 1998 og var med i Hollywood-filmene Thirteen og Thunderbirds før hun ble kjent i 2006 i Disney Channel-filmen, High School Musical. Hudgens begynte også som sanger og lanserte debutalbumet V, i 2006. I 2007 var hun modell for Neutrogena.
